Missing link...
So now I've had to amend the Tuesday Morning Quarterback link, as TMQ is persona non grata with ESPN. More precisely, the eminent Gregg Easterbrook (who writes TMQ) is PNG with the mighty Michael Eisner, head of Disney, which owns ESPN.
The flap began with Easterbrook's unfortunate posting in his Easterblogg for The New Republic Online, where his last paragraph was a poorly executed attempt to put pressure on the Disney honchos to pull their support for Tarantino's latest film, Kill Bill. Easterbrook's last paragraph comes off as thinly-veiled (or even un-veiled) anti-Semitism. I have never known Easterbrook to write any anti-Semitic, or even any remotely racist statements. He even declines to refer to Washington's pro football team as 'R*dsk*ns', in deference to the fact that the team name is a slur against Native Americans.
Instapundit has a good collection of what's happened since. For me, though, the worst fallout is losing (hopefully only temporarily) the great fun of reading Tuesday Morning Quarterback. Easterbrook's pseudo-football/sci-fi/cheesecake column made Tuesdays worthwhile. I hope it returns to an online venue near us soon!
